Born Today: Louis Jordan
Louis Thomas Jordan was born July 8, 1908, in Brinkley, Arkansas. He began playing with bands in the early 1930s on clarinet and piano, but eventually became known as a saxophonist, singer, and composer of jump blues, a direct precursor of rock and roll.
